Does anyone have an suggestions on what style of dress or what type of fabric i should get for my wedding dress.
Getting married in either St Lucia or Antigua and i'm worried about the hot weather! |

I'm still looking for my dress, but I'm leaning towards a traditional one...just looking for something without a lot of crenalin(sp?) and heavy layers. If you want to go traditional, there are wys to do it. However, if you want something light and informal, there are lots of places that sell those too. Check out david's bridal for some ideas- they sell traditional, of course. But they also have some for destination weddings. Just try some styles on and see what feels best for you.

Thanks for your reply, i've been looking at Davids bridal website and i have seen some stunning dresses, i think i would like something a little on the traditional side so i'll have to keep my eyes open to see what available  |

you'd be surprised with what they have for traditioinal, that won't be too hot on the beach. I'll probably end up purchasing my gown from them.Good luck with your search!

I am getting married in St. Lucia. I went to Davids bridal and they were very helpful in deciding on a dress. They offered to "pack" the dress for me including layers of tissue paper to help with the wrinkles and preservation of material so your dress does not get "stained" from excessive heat. The airlines suggest that you get a garment bag (for carry on). They highly recommend that you carry your dress on due to loss of luggage. In any case, if you are looking for a traditional dress for a destination wedding, be 100% positive on a vendor to assist you with last minute "steaming" so your dress will not have any wrinkles.

I just purchased my dress from David's on Saturday! It hasn't come in yet and it will need to be altered, but it's good to know that they will pack it properly, if requested. I'm excited. The dress i chose is traditional, but looks suitable for the beach.

Hi Fellow Beach Bride,
I heard that silk is a nice choice for a breezy cool material. I would suggest not going with a dress that has lots of layers of material. My dress has lots of layers of organza/tulle and i get hot just walking around the store. Not sure how "cool" its going to be on our wedding day. It will look nice blowing in the wind though. That was my thought.  |
