Q. A free Website? What's the catch

A. There isn't one!

Here at islandbrides.com many of us have organised our own beach weddings, and know that its not always the cheapest option. If we can save you a few dollars (or Pounds, Euros, or even Groats), then we will.

Islandbrides.com is here to help you plan your big day with the minimum anmount of stress and cost. Giving you your own website to keep family and friends in the loop seemed like a perfect next step.

Q. How do I build my site?

A. Once you're logged in to your wedding centre, you'll see a new item in the Members Only navigation on the right called My Sitebuilder. Click this link to launch the SiteBuilder interface.

Q. The SiteBuilder tells me I need to enable Javascript and ActiveX. I thought these were unsafe.

A. The SiteBuilder uses some advanced Javascript to make the process simpler for you, our members. To use these features with Internet Explorer you need to enable Javascript and ActiveX.

Unfortunately, ActiveX can be misused by web sites (not us!), and so you may have it turned off. If you are concerned about security, Wwe recommend you upgrade to a better browser, such as Firefox.

Firefox is safe, secure and fast - all the things that Internet Explorer isn't! It also doesn't need ActiveX to take advantage of advanced Javascript.

Q. Why are adverts from Google showing on my website?

A. By providing these sites for free, we are incurring a significant cost increase in bandwidth and server space. To offset this we needed to include some form of sponsorship on the sites. We chose Google as the ads are fairly discreet, and are relevant to visitors who may be looking for accommodation options, or ideas for what to do when they arrive.

Q. Why isn't destination XXXX in your list of wedding locations for my site?

A. islandbrides.com is a resource for Brides and grooms-to-be planning a wedding in the Caribbean region. To avoid spreading ourselves to thinly, we are only permitting sites to be created for weddings based in a destiantion our main site covers.

Q. Will you be adding more site designs?

A. We can't say when, as we have lots of other things on our list of 'to do' items, but yes, we hope to continually add new themes and designs, which is why we made it so easy for you to switch them at any time.


Q. My Question isn't in your list. What do I do now?

A. While we can't provide direct support for the SiteBuilder, our 'techies' will be checking this section of the forum regularly to answer questions and provide help along the way.
