A Cayman Wedding

The Cayman Islands are a convenient Caribbean wedding destination with non-stop flights now available from New York (JFK), Newark, Houston, Charlotte, Philadelphia, Detroit, Tampa, Atlanta, Chicago, Ft. Lauderdale, Memphis, Miami, and Boston.

Also being English speaking, exchanging US Dollars and allowing weddings on the same day as you arrive, the Caymans are opening their arms to offshore couples by making it easy to say “I do” on any one of their three islands.

Which island?

Cayman has three main islands to choose from, each with its own personality and flavour;

  • Grand Cayman is the largest of the three and the most cosmopolitan. It offers an abundance of five star accommodations, a bustling local culture and one of the world’s longest stretches of beach; the Seven Mile Beach. Popular weddings locations continue to be Seven Mile Beach itself, the Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park, the Grand Old House, the gazebo at Pedro St. James, and the cobblestone streets of historic George Town, overlooking the port. For nature lovers, the Butterfly Farm also offers weddings on the premises – see our feature on butterfly weddings.

  • Little Cayman is the least populated of the three islands and is famous for its scenic wonders and unspoiled exotic landscape. Being only 10 miles wide and one mile long it still offers untouched beaches and romantic hideaways for you and your loved one to enjoy together. Diving is the main attraction here with the Bloody Bay Marine Park offering wall dives at 20ft and over 50 dive sites to choose from.

  • Cayman Brac is the more rugged island of the three offering heritage sites, nature trails and the perfect ‘eco’ theme to any Caribbean wedding. In fact, “Brac” is the Gaelic word for bluff, which is the dominant natural attraction on the island; a limestone ridge rising gradually to 140 ft. above sea level.

Uniquely Caymanian

The Cayman Islands can offer everything from tranquillity on deserted beaches to action packed days of diving, snorkelling or fishing – it is one of the diving mecca’s of the world after all! The Cayman National Trust has also harnessed the natural beauty and character of Cayman to offer tours, fun day’s, shows and nature exhibitions on a nature filled calendar of events. With Butterfly farms, Turtle Farms, Fishing, Diving and Bird Watching Tours, Cayman has something for every nature lover.

Cayman also has a cosmopolitan nightlife with thumping hot clubs and live music almost every night of the week. Match this with an international Dining scene and an annual Culinary show hosting world renowned chefs and your sure to be satisfied with the night scene in Cayman.

Consider planning your wedding during one of the Cayman festival seasons and offer your guests the ability to immerse themselves in the culture of Cayman:

Pirate’s Week is held each October or November and features fireworks, mock battles and assorted skulduggery kids events spread out over 10 days:

Batabano is a weekend of costumed fun held after Ash Wednesday each year. A Cultural Kaleidoscope of music, dance and pageantry to bring community together and focused on the past, present and future.

Brachanal is the local equivalent of Batabano on Cayman Brac and is held a week after Batabano.

Cayman Jazz Festival – held in December and now in its second year and hosts some of the world’s most renowned jazz and R&B artists
